I don’t share this so you can either feel pity or awe for me lol, I just share to show you that every single day we are making progress. There is more than just one way to make progress towards the opening of this little business. So much goes on behind the scenes. I’m trying my best to be as intentional and thoughtful when it comes to making decisions for every aspect of my business and I am sure I will continue to learn and grow with all of you once our doors are open. I have loved getting to meet more of you over the past couple of weeks. Your excitement for this space gives me so much energy! I want you to be a part of it, from the very beginning…

Alright alright, I hear ya. You all are wondering what this space is actually going to look like! I am thinking about Sunny Village Cafe for about 8 hours/day so sometimes I forget what I have and haven’t yet shared. And this is a big one!

Our space will include gross-motor, imaginative, fine-motor, STEM, reading, accessible, and age-appropriate toys and materials for children 0-6.

One slightly strange thing with my project is that instead of hiring a general contractor who then brought on subcontractors for the plumbing and electrical, I am using my landlord’s recommended plumbers and electricians. So they haven’t all worked together in the past, so in a very high-level way I’m playing as construction manager!

Some people misinterpret Montessori education to mean your child will have too much freedom and can do whatever they want. That isn’t quite right. Although there is freedom to do a diverse assortment of activities or “work” as they call it in the classroom, there are boundaries. We call it “freedom within boundaries”. This allows the child to weave their natural interests into their academic learning.
