The 4 Parenting Books I’ve Read
Just by reading a parenting book in my day-to-day life I am wayyyy more mindful of how I think about and talk to my children. It helps me be more present and intentional with my children. Which usually means I yell at my kids less!! *Applause* We take our wins where we can get them.
Why We Chose Jefferson Park
There are so many young families in the area that have moved further west as their families have grown and they have seeked larger and more affordable housing. When I was dreaming of this space, I was really hoping to focus on our immediate neighborhood. All others are welcome of course, but I just dreamt of how lovely it would be to have an indoor space a walkable distance away from home where you can bring your children. Where you can sit down and drink your coffee before it gets cold.
10 Reasons We Love Being Parents in Chicago
My husband and I are both transplants to Chicago. I grew up in Texas; he grew up in Utah. When we had the opportunity to move to Chicago some friends and family were shocked and even scared for us. We have found that as long as you’re not in the wrong place at the wrong time you’re usually perfectly safe. In fact, we love it here so much we plan on staying here for as long as life will allow. Chicago is the city where we discovered whole new identities, as parents. And we love being parents in Chicago.
My Montessori Story - Pt. 2

My Montessori Story - Pt. 1
I loved my experience as a young child in a Montessori school and the more I read and understood the philosophies, theories, and science behind the method as an adult, the more eager I was to apply it. Instead of walking you through my whole life history and listing all the benefits etc that you can read on any other blog, I’d like to share a handful of memories I have from those early years that have stuck with me for decades.
Progress Update: October
I know a lot of our community members and neighbors are interested in our progress and if our dream space will actually become a reality. Every month I’ll write up a quick blog post mentioning our biggest wins and possibly our roadblocks (if it isn’t too stressful or emotional) as our space comes together. I want to be as transparent as I can. I want you to be a part of this journey.
